RFID Handheld Readers (UHF)
UHF RFID readers for bulk asset tracking, stock takes and supply-chain visibility.
UHF RFID handheld readers let you scan dozens or hundreds of tagged items in a single sweep — turning a half-day stock count into a 20-minute walk. We supply readers from BlueBird, Generalscan and Zebra with read ranges from 3 m to 15 m, optional integrated barcode scanners, and full Android mobile-computer variants for in-aisle stock management. They suit retail apparel, libraries, hospital asset tracking, IT estate audits, returnable transit packaging (RTP) and yard logistics.
Key features
- Read hundreds of tags per second. Bulk read up to 700+ EPC Gen2 tags per second at multi-metre range.
- 3-15 m read range. Tunable RF power and antenna selection lets you match range to the application — short-range for picking, long-range for yards.
- Integrated barcode scanner. Most models pair UHF RFID with a 1D/2D barcode imager so you can transition mixed-tag estates.
- Android mobile computer. Full Android touchscreen, Wi-Fi, 4G and the same MDM tooling as your scanner fleet.
- Geiger-counter tag finder. Audible and visual pinpoint mode for locating a single tagged asset in a stockroom or store.
- Industry-standard tags. Works with all EPC Gen2 / ISO 18000-6C tags — apparel labels, on-metal tags, laundry tags and hard tags.
Frequently asked questions
Will RFID replace our barcode scanners?
For apparel and hard assets, often yes — at least for stock takes and replenishment. For groceries and FMCG, barcodes remain dominant. Most stores run a hybrid setup.
What read range can I realistically expect?
Indoor with apparel tags: 3-7 m. With dense-pack on-metal tags: 1-2 m. Outdoor yard with hard tags: 8-15 m. Always pilot before specifying.
How long do passive RFID tags last?
Passive tags have no battery and effectively last for the life of the item. Hard tags survive 100+ laundry or industrial cycles.
Do you supply the tags as well?
Yes — we supply hang tags, on-metal tags, laundry tags and printer-encoded inlays alongside the reader hardware.
Can the readers integrate with our existing inventory system?
Yes — readers expose Bluetooth HID for quick wins, plus full SDKs (Java/Kotlin Android, Swift iOS, C# Windows) for tight integration into SAP EWM, Manhattan, Mintsoft, Linnworks, Oracle Retail and bespoke systems.
What's the warranty and lead time?
Standard 24-month manufacturer warranty with optional 36-month extended cover for fleet rollouts. UK stock items ship next day; larger volumes (50+) are typically staged over 3-6 weeks with tag encoding and asset tagging included.
