Contact vs contactless vs dual Contact readers — the card is inserted; used for chip-based ID, banking dev/test, and secure login. Contactless / NFC readers — the card or phone is tapped; used for access control, loyalty, transport and tap-to-identify. This is what most projects need today. Dual-interface readers — handle both, useful where you support legacy contact cards and modern NFC.
